Zen Cart Make a Payment
Most ecommerce retailers always and only collect payment at the time of sale. But some operate differently. Does this describe your business?

Make a Payment on the Product Info Page
The customer sees Make a Payment like any other product, with text fields for the payment amount and any notes.
Make a Payment on the the Shopping Cart Page
Once Make a Payment has been purchased, it appears like any other product.
Make a Payment during checkout
The Make a Payment product is processed differently, so customers must not have any other products in their cart when making a payment; if they do they are returned to the shopping cart with an error message.The Make a Payment product is created as free shipping, so the Shipping page is bypassed. On the payment page, order total modules are skipped, and only payment modules which do online payment processing are shown.

Orders containing a Make a Payment product are flagged in the order list, as shown below.
Scope of Module
Make a Payment does not manage invoices or accounts receivable; it only facilitates payment. Your customers must have the details on how much they owe you, and you must track their payments. (Adding this information to your cart could certainly be done as a separate project; it's just not included in Make a Payment.)Make a Payment Orders are marked with a flag so that they can be excluded from exports, reports, order total modules, etc. as needed. For example, if you use Frequency Discounts, you would want to exclude these orders from your total calculations.
